LED is an acronym for “Light Emitting Diode”. These are very small semiconductors and are a computer chip, encased in a glass-like resin, which emits therapeutic wavelengths (or colours) of light energy when a current is passed through them. Unlike laser, LED Phototherapy is non-invasive and non-thermal, and hence requires no recovery time after treatments.

What is involved in LED Phototherapy treatments?

Unlike other types of light therapy, LED’s do not contain ultraviolet rays, therefore they are safe for regular use.
LED light therapy doesn’t cause burns compared to other anti-aging treatments such as chemical peels, dermabrasion, and laser therapy. LED Light Therapy is safe for all skin colours and types.
You shouldn’t use LED Light Therapy if you take Accutane type prescription products for acne, or if you are experiencing skin rashes.
Side effects are rare, but may include some increased inflammation, redness, and rashes.
In-clinic procedures take from 15 to 30 minutes at a time. A course of ten (10) treatments are generally recommended so you may need to go back for up to 10 weeks, then only once every few months.
At-home LED devices can be used at your convenience without having to go to any appointments.
